FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 4, 2023

SASKATCHEWAN SINGER-SONGWRITER CHRIS HENDERSON TO MAKE DEBUT WITH REGINA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN:  The Regina Symphony Orchestra (RSO) is celebrating the Christmas season with the annual community holiday concert, this year featuring Saskatchewan’s own, Chris Henderson.  Presented by SaskTel, The RSO Christmas Special will be held at Conexus Arts Centre on Saturday, December 10th at 7:30 pm with pre-show activities starting at 6:45 pm in the Theatre Lobby.  RSO Music Director Gordon Gerrard will be conducting the concert and has planned a program to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

The RSO will play a selection of music from holiday films like Babes in Toyland and Polar Express, as well as festive standards like Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. The South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra (SYYO) will join the RSO in a supersize orchestral celebration of the season, and Mayor Sandra Masters will make her return to the RSO stage with a new arrangement of Night Before Christmas.

While this concert will have many familiar parts, there is an exciting debut being made at this festive concert – our Christmas cowboy, Chris Henderson.  Since starting his music career in 2008, Henderson has been one of the busiest Recording Artists in Canada. The high school teacher has been touring relentlessly, and has released 17 singles to National radio.  Henderson has been nominated for dozens of awards including three consecutive wins as the, “Male Artist of the Year” at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards in in 2018-20, and “Songwriter of the Year” in 2014.  Henderson will be performing along side the RSO and two solo selections from his catalogue.

Extra activities in the Theatre Lobby are sponsored by Sask Lotteries.  Queen City Brass will start the night with a performance amidst the Conexus Arts Centre’s Winter Wonderland tree displays.  Local artist Megan Hazel Jewelry will be on site selling handmade gifts, including a pin she made in support of the RSO.  Gift certificates are also available at the concert and online.

Tickets for December 9 can be purchased online at www.reginasymphony.com, at the Conexus Arts Centre Box Office, or by calling 306-586-9555.
