The Regina Symphony Music Makers Program is a community-based music program that provides weekly music lessons. The RSO provides instruments, music, and instructors at no charge to the school or students. Students are placed in groups lessons based on their ability and grade level. Musical games, activities, repertoire, and studies are used to make learning fun and help students achieve their personal best.

Students in grades 4–7 learn a variety of repertoire, perform throughout the year, and develop an appreciation for music. This program is specifically designed for students and families in underserved communities who would not otherwise be able to afford either studies, or instrument rentals.

In the 22-23 season, this program will diversify the instrument options with the goal of slow growth to create a community orchestra in ensuing seasons.

Yeganeh Sotudehnia

Yeganeh Sotudehnia

Instructor

Yeganeh Sotudehnia started her musical journey in Tehran, Iran where she was enrolled in Orff classes at a young age. She began violin lessons a little over a year later, where she quickly fell in love with the prospect of discovering different melodies by ear. Though classically trained and a proud alum of NYO Canada, she also has a love for experimenting with sounds, especially those from Eastern influences, and the many forms of ensemble collaboration in contemporary improvisation. Yeganeh has enjoyed teaching strings and connecting through music with students of all ages since 2013. Previously a strings teacher at Sistema Toronto, Yeganeh is passionate about social change and the role that the arts can play in this pursuit.
