COVID-19 Vaccines and Safe Workplace Obligations: Requirements for Choral Singers
Updated September 16, 2021
Compliance Deadlines: Masking: all in-person rehearsals
Full Vaccination by October 15, 2021
Following the advice of provincial health officials and noting safety issues and legitimate concerns surrounding orchestral performance under COVID-19 pandemic conditions, RSO management is issuing a requirement for all chorus members attending in-person rehearsals organized by the Regina Symphony Orchestra to be fully vaccinated. This policy is in effect to protect you, all chorus members, the Chorus Director, and all attending RSO personnel.
The decision to implement a COVID-19 vaccine policy has been made due to rising case numbers in the Province of Saskatchewan and the additional risk posed by the Delta Variant driving those numbers, and as such, government, and health authority recommendations nationally and provincially for organizations to have such policies in place. The RSO also has a legal obligation for provision of a safe workspace.
This policy, which is subject to revision depending on conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, government requirements or recommendations, may be updated by Management at any time.
All orchestra members and administrative staff at the RSO are complying with an identical policy, and any staff member required at in-person rehearsals and performances are confirmed fully vaccinated for your protection.
This policy is also in effect for any guest artists and guest conductors performing with the RSO, as well as RSO volunteers and any contractors hired directly by the RSO, technical or otherwise, who need to be in proximity to RSO staff and musicians.
All personnel should be aware of the Saskatchewan Public Health Authority personal assessment, and can access the SHA website if there are any concerns regarding exposure.
Proof of full vaccination must be provided to the Chorus Director or the RSO Executive Director by October 15, 2021. If you are unvaccinated for medical reasons, you are required to self-identify to the Chorus Director by September 16, 2021.
Your records for COVID-19 inoculation must be indicate that you have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to submitting documentation, as specified by Health Authorities. Therefore, your 2nd vaccination must have taken place by October 2, 2021.
Presentation of either your completed inoculation card or a downloadable certificate from Saskatchewan Health Authority e-health will be accepted. A QR code smartphone certificate is in development by the province, and is expected to be in place before end-September.
If it is not possible for you to be vaccinated for medical reasons, it is required that you provide an original letter or document from your medical professional. In this instance, proof of a negative rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours of any in-person rehearsal, or a PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to your presence will be required.
The note from your medical professional must indicate if the exemption is permanent or temporary, and if temporary, when you can expect to be able to receive the required vaccinations. This test must be done on for each week of the season in which you participate.
Requirements at Rehearsal and Performance Venues:
Masks are mandatory in any rehearsal. Hand sanitizers will be onsite at all rehearsals, and information regarding singers’ masks has been provided by the Chorus Director.
Information regarding updating the policy for rehearsals and performances at the Conexus Centre in January 2022 will be issued at a later date.
All information regarding vaccinations and immunization collected under this policy will be kept in the strictest confidence, in a manner consistent with The Privacy Act, and the RSO’s policies regarding confidentiality. Documentation received by the Chorus Director or Executive Director will be confirmed, recorded, and destroyed. No health documents of any kind are retained in the RSO’s files. ___________________
