RSO Education & Outreach Fund
The Regina Symphony Orchestra has a mandate to enrich lives in Southern Saskatchewan communities through making orchestral music and music education accessible and available to all, and to help young people to develop their talents through creative and adventurous educational programs. The RSO created the Education and Outreach Fund to support the expansion and improvement of the RSO’s existing education and outreach initiatives, and to develop innovative new programs that meet the growing needs of the community we serve.
Music remains integral to building a strong and vibrant community – and this is why the RSO relies on the generous support of donors and sponsors to help ensure the enjoyment of live orchestra music can be accessible to all!
Music Education Programs
In our conversations with schools in Regina and Southern Saskatchewan, we have noticed a growing need for comprehensive and creative musical education programs that build on and enhance existing arts education school curriculum. Music education inspires creativity, confidence and joy, and has long been known to aid school-age children in cognitive learning, keeping students motivated and focused. Over 5,500 Regina school children take part in RSO’s school programs each year. RSO is committed to engaging young listeners and developing their love of music through these programs: RSO In Schools – concerts at Regina and area schools; Build The Band - annual high-school music program; and the Piapot Project - year long music program at Payepot School.
Community Outreach Programs
Taking our concerts to smaller communities in southern Saskatchewan through the Music On the Road program, the Free Concert Series at the Regina Public Library, and offering discounted concert tickets to students and young people through Classically Hip, are just some of the important programs the RSO provides annually to make live orchestra music accessible to all!
