Piapot Project

In the Fall of 2011, the RSO began its first music program at the Piapot First Nation.

The program has become an integral part of the Payepot School’s curriculum. Grade One students at the school are being given violin lessons by Ed Minevich, assisted by Ramses Calderon.

In addition to musical instruction students are learning music history and theory. Several times throughout the year, students from Piapot First Nation will be able to  attend RSO concerts in Regina. At these concerts the students will have the opportunity to meet with musicians and have a backstage tour.

On February 14th, 2012 the RSO Chamber Players performed a concert for students and the whole Piapot community.

As part of this project, the RSO will also be presenting a Piapot Festival on Friday, May 25th, 2012 from Noon to 4PM.
